Nancy Byington is a nurse practitioner that has wanted to write children's books for the past eight years. She wrote a book for her first grandchild about eight years ago when he was upset about having to put a turtle he found back in the pond. The story was put into book form at Staples and given to her grandson. It was never published.
Nancy decided to start writing children's books about places she visits in Michigan.
Nancy's grandchildren live too far away to join her on most of her adventures so she writes from the perspective as if her grandchildren were with her. The books are interactive by having children count, answer questions, learn facts and look for grandpa the elusive camera man hidden somewhere in the story.
By writing about places in Michigan, she is able to highlight activities for families available in the State of Michigan that families may not be aware of. Michigan is a beautiful state and has so much to offer! Grandma is having lots of fun visiting different places. "Grandma Visits the Detroit Zoo" is her first book with plans for many additional books about other places to follow.
